The March 2025 TUNE Intensive Week in Rauland (Norway) was a vibrant meeting point of musical traditions across Europe. Hosted by USN Rauland, from 18 to 22 of March, this intensive week’s focus on Norwegian folk music and dances gave students a deep dive into the rhythms and stories of Norway. This week gathered over 30 traditional music students, teachers and administrative staff from the following partner institutions: University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy (Estonia), pôle Aliénor (France), Conservatorio Superior de Música de Vigo (Spain) and Conservatorio Statale di Musica P. I. Tchaikovsky (Italy).
Through workshops on instrumental tunes, vocal techniques, and traditional dances, students exchanged cultural knowledge and creative energy. Evening dance workshops added a touch of international flair – from Spanish jotas to Estonian runo songs – showing how folk traditions resonate across borders.
Participants also enjoyed outdoor activities such as skiing, grilling and ice-bathing, typical of the Telemark region!
All the concerts and dance parties were a joyful celebration of shared learning and the power of music to gather people ; and students are enthusiats for next intensive week in Estonia in 2026!
Stay tuned, full recording of the final concert-exam will be available soon!! 🎶
